Over my career, I have had the opportunity to deal with agricultural business professionals, business owners and entrepreneurs, in regards to investing, risk management, income protection and pension plan creation. A great deal of my practise has been dedicated to serving the needs of my clients throughout Ontario. I try to think outside "the box" for my clients by looking for solutions that suit them, and not the institutions that are entrusted with my clients' funds. Throughout my career I have worked hard to understand the concerns of my clients and believe that I can relate to them effectively. The double digit growth in my practice speaks volumes to this.
I understand the importance of having a sound investment plan with realistic goals, and the need for patience to allow the plan to materialize. I don't deal with short-term investors or speculators, as personal experience has taught me that these habits rarely produce wealth. I often invest my funds in the same investments that I recommend to my clients, so I "put my money where my mouth is". I operate a non-invasive practice. I believe that with the open door policy I maintain, my clients know and understand that I am there for them whenever they have concerns or other issues that require my input. In my opinion, and from my experience, portfolio reviews do not need to be a rigid pre-established process, but should instead by flexible to suit each client's needs. If I feel that adjustments to my clients' portfolios are required, I will ensure that they are contacted promptly.
Our office does not have voice mail or other no-personal means of contact other than an answering service for after hour calls. My commitment to my clients is that I will return all telephone calls within 24 hours, and ensure clients are offered an appointment within 48 hours if they require a face-to-face meeting.
My strengths include the ability to listen to my clients, quickly understand their concerns and needs, provide guidance, and thoroughly explain what it will take to achieve their goals. Most importantly though, I will be there for the "hand holding" that is often required through a tough investment climate such as we witnessed during 2000-2003 and again recently in 2008-2009.
I strive to keep up-to-date on economic issues that can have a profound effect on my clients' financial well-being. I try to separate "noise" from "reality". I have learned that investing takes a certain discipline and requires patience and perseverance.
My business is built on referrals from satisfied clients. As further testimony to the confidence my clients place in me, I have been a guest speaker for several years at both The Spring and Fall Cottage Life Shows in Toronto. These shows are Canada's largest, and my presentations on First Time Cottage Ownership and Cottage Succession Planning have proven to be not only enjoyable for myself, but also profitable and informative for the participants. I also counsel cottage owners throughout Ontario, on Cottage Succession issues.
I also travel extensively throughout Canada and United States attending Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT), Investment, Tax, and Insurance Conferences. I believe strongly that if I learn from the best, I will become the best, and can provide the best solutions for my clients.
